Introduction

The genesis of the Hindi Society (Singapore) can be traced to January 1989 when a Pro-Tem Hindi Committee (chaired by Mr Sivakant Tiwari) was formed to look into the learning of Hindi Language in Singapore.

In the beginning, the Society started with only a handful of students and teachers. Today, the Society is in its 32nd year of imparting Hindi education to 4600 students in nine NTIL Weekend Centres on Saturdays, and 68 mainstream schools on weekdays.

Hindi Society conducts lessons for students from Pre-Primary to JC as well as Adult Hindi Conversation Classes.

Apart from teaching Hindi, the Society provides a varied and holistic education that extends to organizing various competitions and celebrating a variety of cultural events and festivals.

सिंगापुर में हिन्दी के पठन-पाठन के उद्देश्य से श्री शिवाकान्त तिवारी जी की अध्यक्षता में जनवरी 1989 में एक अस्थाई समिति का गठन किया गया था।

हिंदी सोसाइटी ने चंद विद्यार्थियों एवं शिक्षकों के साथ इस सफर की शुरुआत की। वर्तमान में सोसाइटी के 32 वें वर्ष में नौ सप्ताहांत केंद्रों और 68 विद्यालयों में हिन्दी शिक्षण का कार्य सम्पन्न हो रहा है जिसमें लगभग 4600 छात्र हिंदी शिक्षा ग्रहण कर रहे हैं।

हिंदी सोसाइटी पूर्व-प्राथमिक से लेकर जूनियर कॉलेज के विद्यार्थियों के लिए अध्ययन कक्षाएँ तथा वयस्कों के लिए हिंदी की संवादात्मक कक्षाओं का आयोजन करती है।

हिंदी सिखाने के अलावा, सोसाइटी द्वारा समय-समय पर विभिन्न प्रतियोगिताओं और विभिन्न सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया जाता है ताकि विद्यार्थियों का सर्वांगीण विकास हो सके।
